FullCycle offers schools a great educational programme that enhances any environmental studies curriculum. Our programmes are tailored at the appropriate level for learners from pre-school age to senior levels and are designed to promote environmental awareness and to instil environmental responsibility and eco-awareness.

The wonderful circle of life is clearly demonstrated by our Can-O-Worms, which actively shows the processes involved in turning food scraps into compost for the garden, which in turn helps to produce the fruits and veggies that we eat. Our teaching resources make it easier for teachers to educate learners about the environment and turning waste into a valuable resource.

While the programmes aim to be experiential and fun for the learners, there is a serious environmental principle underpinning each component . We would like each learner to have a greater appreciation of the urgent need to reduce negative human impacts on our fragile global ecosystems and to change attitudes and life-styles for more sustainable living to ensure a healthy future for all.

We offer the following:

  • Programmes in our facilities at the Lifestyle Garden Centre in Randpark Ridge, Johannesburg, and at our facilities in the Noordhoek Farm Village, Main Road/ Chapmans Peak Drive, Cape Town, during school term times. We provide hands on group activities including :
    • Observing and handling of "red wriggler" earthworms.
    • A tour of a working worm farm.
    • Feeding the worms using left-overs from learners' own lunch boxes.
    • Using the compost and liquid fertiliser from the worm farm to feed plants growing in and around the classroom facility (Jo'burg) and the innovative allotment garden (Cape Town)

The programme lasts approximately two and a half hours and may be run in the morning starting at 9.00 a.m, or in the afternoon starting at 2.30 p.m.

  • Worm farms for use in processing the school's organic waste.
  • Workshops on vermicomposting for schools and people who are interested in worm farming.

FullCycle can assist schools in preparing an organic waste audit for the school, and in the design of an organics-recycling programme that suits the school's needs. We provide a range of innovative organic recycling solutions for commercial, home and school environments. As an added bonus, schools can raise funds from selling their earthworms, vermicompost and vermin-tea (liquid fertiliser), or / and use the resulting fertiliser on the school grounds.

FullCycle is committed to finding sustainable solutions for the overwhelming environmental concerns facing society. An important facet of this work is providing educational resources for schools and the wider community, encouraging recycling of organic waste, and promoting the use of products like Worm Factory and Can-O-Worms.

Vermicomposting is a great way to recycle food waste and educate students about the role earthworms play in the soil food-web and the important role that earthworms and other organisms play in rebuilding our soils. The earthworm composters that we supply are safe, hygienic and odourless and made out of 100% recycled plastic. They are easy-to-use and accessible to learners within a school environment.
