Sun Valley Primary School Children ' Dig Worms' |
After visiting FullCycle here in the Village, and learning about earthworms, the Sun Valley Primary School Grade 2's are doing an earthworm project in their classrooms.
The school project has sparked a lot of family visits to our office at the Noordhoek Farm Village.
Watch out for the children as they dig for earthworms around Noordhoek.
Did you know that there is a difference between the earthworms that the children are digging in the soil for and the composting earthworms we use in our worm farms? If you want to know more, come to our weekly talks at 3pm at our educational installation in the playground at the village. |

The FullCycle Team at the Johnnie Walker Celebrating Strides Awards! |
Although I struggled as an Irish woman accepting a nomination from a Scottish Whisk[e]y maker, I soon got over my dilemma when I had a dram of Johnnie Walker's Gold Label. Delicious!
In keeping with the Johnnie Walker Celebrating Strides Awards, Mary and Helen will continue striding as they train for their summit of Kilimanjaro on the 31 December 2009.
We are also planning to bring 'Beatrice the Bin', our awareness-raising-wheelie-bin, on some of our training sessions. (To find out more about Beatrice, view our blog on the 'Great Bin Walk').
"We may not wriggle, but we sure can walk".

We joined the Toad Nuts on their patrol on Friday night 7 August and Monday night 9 August.
Toad Nuts is a group of volunteers based in Noordhoek established to save the endangered Western Cape Leopard Toad.
The Western Cape Leopard Toads breed during the rainy season and are now embarking on their annual migration to the local ponds.
The Toad Nuts need volunteers to help the toads cross roads to their breeding grounds safely. Volunteers also record gender, size and location of the toads.
If you are interested contact Suzie on 082 476 1016 and if you can't go on the patrols, then please slow down on rainy nights, as this is when they are usually crossing the roads.
