Mary was nominated for her projects including Waste at Work, the plastic bag campaign, Can-O-Worms and a diesel emissions campaign called Clear- the- Air. Each winner will receive a R140, 000 prize package, comprising of R100,000 to be used towards either a bursary fund to benefit a registered institution or an initiative associated with the category for which they were nominated. In addition, the winner will also receive a limited edition bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label valued at R40,000. Now that should cause a hiccup! To vote for Mary log on to www.thetimes.co.za |

Starting on 27th December 2009, Mary and Helen will spend 7 days climbing Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, to raise awareness of the mountains of avoidable waste that we create. If you would like to help them raise funds for the journey please contact our office as any amount, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated. |
FullCycle initiated a pilot vermicomposting project at the Mount Nelson Hotel early in 2006 in collaboration with Wasteman. It is believed to be the first on-site vemicomposting unit of its kind at a hotel - and a five-star hotel at that!
You may have seen some articles in the media in August and September 2006. Beachhead Media assisted FullCycle with the media release, and the media exposure that it got exceeded all expectations - it was even published in Scientific American. Some of the local press also ran the story, including the Daily News (below)
The pilot project has been a huge success and The Mount Nelson Hotel, Wasteman and FullCycle are busy completing a new structure to house the scaled-up vermicomposting unit. Not only are the worms getting a new structure but their accommodation has also been upgraded to Worm Factory units - 60 in all.
