Compost Mate

Compost Mate is the handiest tool available for turning and aerating compost. Its epoxy-coated steel construction makes it light-weight and durable, yet tough.

The spiral tine of the Compost Mate screws its way into the compost with relatively ease, and an upward tug on the handle pulls up a conveniently sized plug of compost.

Gone are the days of turning a compost heap with a pitch-fork, and in so doing exerting huge amounts of leverage on your back.

Compost heaps can easily become compacted and water-logged, leading to smelly and slimy (anaerobic) conditions. The traditional way of countering this problem is to turn the heap over with a pitch-fork, which involves a lot of effort.

With Compost Mate you do not need to turn over the heap to aerate it, you simply screw the spiral tine into the heap and lift the handle upwards. This action breaks the compacted layers, letting in oxygen and preventing waterlogged conditions.

Using the Compost Mate encourages aerobic conditions, which are less likley to produce odors and more conducive to composting by beneficial organisms and earthworms.
